Giannis Antetokounmpo has three brothers who have played in the NBA.

Giannis Antetokounmpo has played with his older brother, Thanasis, for the past four years and the two won a championship in 2021.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, Thanasis and Kostas are the first trio of brothers to become NBA champions in league history – Giannis and Thanasis while playing for the Milwaukee Bucks and Kostas as a Los Angeles Lakers.

Thanasis made his NBA debut with the New York Knicks after being drafted by the organization with the 51st overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft.

In 2021, Kostas signed with ASVEL Basket, part of the French Betclic Élite and the Euroleague. Giannis Antetokounmpo’s youngest brother, Alex, played high school basketball in the US before becoming a professional basketball player.

Giannis Antetokounmpo has received seven All-Star selections, including being selected as an All-Star captain in 2019, 2020 and 2023.

Along with his MVP award, Giannis Antetokounmpo was also named the NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2020, becoming only the third player after Michael Jordan (1988) and Hakeem Olajuwon (1994) to win both awards in the same season.
